Rewiring Your Mindset & Practicing Daily Gratitude with Marisa Peer

Listen now:

Have you ever wondered how you can possibly stay centered and positive when the universe keeps giving you challenge after challenge?

Marisa Peer, a master of instant breakthroughs, tells us how we can overcome these challenges and shift these to opportunities for us to tap into our full potential. She is a best-selling author, motivational speaker and leading celebrity therapist, She has helped thousands of people to transform their mental habits into thought patterns leading to success.

According to Marisa, the major causes of depression are when we fail to follow our heart’s desire, when we tell ourselves harsh hurtful words on a daily basis, and when we lose connection with others.

As humans, we are tribal in nature and we need to connect with other people. It is ironic how despite the convenience of the internet, there is an epidemic of disconnection among people. At a time when we are forced to practice social distancing, it is highly important to maintain deep emotional connections with others. Somehow, the crisis today has paved a way for us to connect with others like clapping for health workers, spending more time with family, and sharing what we have with those in need. These little things we have taken for granted before are actually essential to our mental health.

Our current situation can be a time for us to connect with our minds and to understand ourselves better. Now that many of us have the luxury of time, we can take that time to ask ourselves what brings us joy. Marisa has given us a few questions to ponder on:

  1. If you won the lottery and never had to work again for the rest of your life, what will you do?

  2. If you only had 2 year to live, what would you do?

  3. What have you always wanted to do but was held back because of fear?

  4. What makes your heart sing and what makes you feel really good about yourself?

  5. What did you love to do at the age between 7 and 14?

Sometimes, we already have an idea of what we are meant to do. If we ask ourselves these questions and we do what we are meant to do, we find our meaning, purpose, connection, and significance.

Marisa also teaches how we can gradually change our mental habits during this time. While we are at home, we have the chance to change how we interpret the events happening around us.

Although we are wired to fear change and to run away from anything unfamiliar, we have to somehow make it change for the better.  Choose to see the good in your situation. Because whatever you say, your mind accepts. The choices you make shape your life and we can all make better choices. And when we have the ability to do that in every situation, then we can see challenges as opportunities for growth and breakthroughs.
